Player Spotlight: Maxime Meyer – Size, Instincts, and Defensive Prowess
08/17/2025

Maxime Meyer is a legit 7-foot developing big in the class of 2026 who won’t turn 18 until January of his senior year. While he is still physically developing, Meyer already presents a very intriguing mix of size, instincts, and tenacity.
On the court, Meyer is a constant double-double threat, averaging 9.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game in 3SSB play. Defensively, he is a stat-stuffer with 3.2 blocks and 4.3 total defensive stocks per game, providing rim protection and disrupting opposing offenses.
Meyer’s 7-foot-3 wingspan and 9-foot-5 standing reach make him a lob threat and a formidable presence on both ends. He is surprisingly coordinated for his size, able to move fluidly in transition and even execute occasional euro-steps in the lane. While he’s bouncier in open space than in traffic, he remains fundamental with the ball in high-traffic areas and excels at offensive rebounding (3.3 per game).
Skill-wise, Meyer shows:
-
Solid hands and instincts around the rim (often blocking shots with his left hand)
-
Comfort putting the ball on the floor and relocating to open areas
-
Passing flashes, with potential to handle short-rolls and dribble-hand-offs at the next level
Offensively, Meyer’s face-up shooting is still developing, with a 67% free throw rate indicating room for touch growth. Turnover rates are higher than assists (0.9 vs. 2.4), but the ceiling is high as his frame, strength, and offensive skill continue to grow.
Elite Hoops Spotlight will continue tracking Meyer’s development, as his combination of size, instincts, and raw potential makes him one of the most intriguing big men in the class of 2026.
