PROVO, UT — Class of 2026 combo guard Dean Rueckert made his college decision Monday night, committing to Brigham Young University live on CBS Sports’ College Basketball Channel. The talented guard from Timpview High School and the Utah Prospects AAU program picked BYU over a competitive group of finalists: Washington, Clemson, Stanford, and Utah.

The decision marks a significant milestone for BYU and new head coach Kevin Young, as Rueckert becomes the first player in the 2026 class to commit to the program. His pledge follows the program's historic 2025 recruiting class, which landed four-star big man Xavion Staton and the nation’s No. 2-ranked player AJ Dybantsa.

Known for his high-IQ playmaking, toughness on both ends, and consistent leadership, Rueckert has been a standout in Utah high school basketball and on the national grassroots circuit. His commitment is expected to spark further momentum for BYU as they look to solidify their place among college basketball’s elite recruiting programs.
